Ignacio Martin-Loeches

Prof. Ignacio Martin-Loeches (Chair)

Ignacio Martin-Loeches, MB, BCh, MD, PhD, EMBA, FJFICMI is a Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at Trinity College Dublin and Consultant at St James’s Hospital, Ireland. He serves as Chair of the Critical Care Group at the European Respiratory Society and Chair of Research at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. A former Steering Committee member of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, he currently leads the ERS European Network for ICU-related Respiratory Infections. He has authored over 600 peer-reviewed publications (H-index 101, >40,000 citations), initiated the first clinical trials for sepsis at St James’s Hospital (TCD), secured more than €5 million in research funding, and delivered invited lectures in over 40 countries worldwide.

Christian Giske

Prof. Christian Giske MD/PhD Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Christian Giske is a professor and chief consultant physician in bacteriology at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital. He is the immediate past chair of EUCAST and the leader of a research group working on novel treatments of Gram-negative infections. Giske is also the deputy academic vice president of Karolinska Institutet and an advisor to ECDC (EARS-Net) and CLSI.

John Valik

Dr. John Valik, MD Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

John Karlsson Valik is a consultant physician in infectious diseases and researcher at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, focusing on severe bacterial infections. He is head of the Swedish national quality registry for bacterial meningitis and a member of the national guideline committee for bacterial CNS infections. Valik has extensive experience in national and international projects on sepsis and healthcare-associated infections, integrating electronic health record data, bacterial whole-genome sequencing, and machine learning to improve diagnostics and treatment.

Stephen Hughes

Dr Stephen Hughes MPharm, MSc, MBA, PhD, IP — Consultant Pharmacist (AMS), Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, London (UK)

Dr Stephen Hughes is a Consultant Pharmacist specialising in Antimicrobial Stewardship with over 17 years’ NHS experience in clinical practice, leadership, and research. He leads the local AMS service delivering measurable improvements in prescribing, safety, and outcomes. He leads the London Antimicrobial Pharmacy group, is the most recent National Chair of the UKCPA Pharmacy Infection Network and a member of the BSAC Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Subgroup. Stephen holds an MPharm, MBA, and PhD focused on infection pharmacotherapy, and is a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.
